Photograph Africa’s Most Beautiful Cat

The Leopards Of Londolozi

The Sabi Sands area is world famous for its exceptional game viewing but in particular for its fantastic leopard sightings. During this photographic safari we have chosen to base ourselves in South Africa’s Londolozi which is over 100km2 of private land based centrally in the Sabi Sands eco system. With a more open landscape compared to much of the surrounding parts of the Kruger National Park, Londolozi lends itself very well to leopard photography. Limited to only 3 guests and with 7 nights in camp, this safari gives plenty of time on location but also an enhanced learning experience due to the smaller group size. This safari aims to maximise our days shooting in the very best conditions, leaving time for image reviews and further tuition in camp. Regardless of your experience our aim is to enable you to take more compelling and engaging photographs, whilst understanding more about your camera before the safari comes to an end.

We tend not to share all of our tour details online and therefore full information about this safari is available via PDF on request. If you have any questions or would like to register your interest please email info@tomway.co.uk or call 07876 333787.

Workshops Highlights

Limited To Three Guests

A small group size is incredibly important. It not only gives you more space in the vehicle (each guest has access to their own row of seats), but it also gives us plenty of time to spend with you for a more personalised and enhanced learning experience.

7 Days In Camp

With seven full days in camp focused solely on leopards, this gives us enough time in the field to capture an array of different images of this beautiful cat.

In Camp Image Reviews

To maximise our time in camp, we will be available on a daily basis to give informative image reviews and detailed guidance on how to process your elephant photographs.

Winter Light

We have timed this safari to coincide with South Africa’s winter. The light is softer for longer at this time of year giving us a slightly longer window to photograph in.

Extremely High Density Of Leopard

This workshop destination has been carefully chosen so that we are travelling to a location with an extremely high density of leopard. This gives us the realistic opportunity to photograph these cats on a daily basis, increasing our chances of beautiful photographs.

Extra Weight Allowance

We have built in extra weight allowance for all guests on this safari so that you are able to bring the camera equipment you would like plus your laptops for image reviews.

Itinerary

Day 1: Depart country of origin and arrive into Johannesburg International Airport early morning the following day.

Day 2: After our international flight into South Africa, we take a short internal flight to Skukuza where we are met on arrival and transferred by car directly to our base at Londolozi. We will arrive in time for lunch before heading out on our first afternoon drive.

Day 3 - 8: We will spend a total of 7 nights at Londolozi, exploring the South African Lowveld in search of Africa's most beautiful cat. Each day we will follow the traditional safari routine of heading out before first light looking for prime photographic opportunities. Leopards can be notoriously hard to find but to significantly increase our chances of finding leopards on every drive, within our team with have our driver/ guide and also a designated spotter who will sit at the front of the jeep looking for tracks and any other signs we are on the right path. We have the added advantage of being able to drive off-road which will give us complete flexibility to positions ourselves for the best photographs. Once the light is too strong we will return to camp for a well earned breakfast. When we are back at the lodge, we will have time to rest, download/review our images from the morning drive and have a late lunch before departing at around 4pm for our afternoon drive. Once the sun has set we return to camp for dinner around the camp fire.

Day 9: On our final day at Londolozi, we will have time for our last morning drive before heading to Skukuza Airport. From here we will fly to back to Johannesburg to connect with our international flights home.

Day 10: Arrive home in the morning after our overnight flights.

Guidance, Tuition & Expertise

The main purpose and objective of this photographic safari is that you are given the opportunity to see and photograph leopards in their natural environment. Tom will be guiding you on everyone of your game drives to make sure you are in the right position to take compelling photographs, giving plenty of advice regarding composition, settings, angles and how to handle the different lighting conditions. Tom has been photographing leopards across Africa for many years and visiting Londolozi each year since 2021. During this time, Tom has learnt what is takes to photograph this beautiful cat looking at its very best and will ensure you are best placed to take a variety of stunning leopard photographs.

Once we are back in camp, Tom will run various processing sessions and be on hand to critique your images from each drive, inviting you to ask questions to ensure you are ready to make improvements on the following day. Limited to a group of 3 this safari guarantees that each individual can benefit from plenty of photographic guidance and tuition.
