• Tour Location: Kenya
• 2026 Tour Price: $11,399 per person
Limited to only six guests with two professional wildlife photographer guides. This unique safari workshop offers a full 10 days at camp, giving you 20 game drives, which is a fantastic amount of time on location behind the camera. It also allows us plenty of time to spend with you for an enhanced learning experience. This safari aims to maximise our days shooting in the very best conditions, leaving enough time for image reviews and further tuition in camp. Regardless of your experience our aim is to enable you to take more compelling and engaging photographs, whilst understanding more about your camera before the safari comes to an end.
The Maasai Mara is regarded as arguably one of Africa’s greatest destinations, and Mara North one of the most attractive areas within. The variety and density of wildlife here is like nowhere else with the open savannah stretching as far as your eyes can see. It provides the perfect canvas to photograph the abundance of big cat species, as well as the other megafauna this area has to offer. Although typically in this area the big cats are our main focus, we will also spend time photographing an array of other iconic species including giraffe, elephant, zebra and of course buffalo.
This photography workshop is designed to maximise both your learning in the field and at camp, so you come away from your safari with the very best photographs and knowledge possible. We appreciate the more time spent in the field the higher the opportunity for those magic moments, which is why we offer a full 10 days in camp. Our approach is quality over quantity and this style is certainly something we would both like to instil during our time with you. Rather than a simple tick-list approach, we will proactively be on the lookout for the best photographic encounters. This is the same approach we have successfully applied to our own photography over the years. As such we recognise it as the best way to build a beautiful portfolio of images.
Whilst we will always endeavour to find the most sought after animals, if there is an exceptional image opportunity, we will always prioritise the quality of the photo potential over that of the subject.
We will be making as much use of our time at camp as possible, as we believe the learning experience does not just stop at pressing the shutter release on a game drive. Once back in camp, we will be available for a number of different individual and group sessions, covering a variety of areas from how to process your images to learning how to print.
We are met on arrival at Nairobi International Airport before taking a short transfer by car to our local hotel for an overnight stay, to rest after your international flights.
After breakfast we are collected as a group and driven to Wilson domestic airport for our private charter flight directly to Mara North. We are met at the local airstrip by our guides and driven to camp, arriving for lunch. There will be time to settle in before we give a short presentation on initial camera set-ups, shooting techniques and generally what to expect from the coming days. We then head out late afternoon on a game drive to explore the area for the first time, before returning for dinner and drinks by the camp fire.
We will leave camp each morning under the cover of darkness with the aim of finding our key subjects before sunrise. In this way we can ensure we are in position to use the very best light before the African sun becomes too strong. We will stop for a bush breakfast and refreshments, before looking out for more photo opportunities as we slowly head back to camp. At this point you will have time to rest, eat lunch and also download/review your photographs before the afternoon drive. We will be on hand during this time to help with image reviews and offer a number of processing and photography presentations. Once the light begins to soften we will embark on our afternoon game drive, once again returning after dark for dinner and drinks.
Each day we will repeat the same pattern as Day 3.
On our last day we will have a morning game drive before breakfast, then catch our private chartered flight back to Nairobi Wilson Airport. We will have time to go to a local hotel for dinner and freshen up before your international flights.
Arrive home in the morning after our overnight flights.
